MEETING OF BOTTLE MANUFACTURERS.

The National Vial and Bottle Manufacturers Association met in convention at Washington on Friday, the 20th inst. There was quite a large attendance. Among other subjects discussed was the regulation of the length of the blast, and the tariff affecting the glass business.

There were some expressions of condolence on the unsatisfactory condition of the trade in the past and the hope for better things in the course of the present year.

The election of officers resulted in the choice of a president, Wm. Elliott Smith of St. Louis; vice-president, Joseph Atkinson, of Hawley, Pa.; secretary, J.R. Wrightman, Pittsburgh, Pa.; treasurer, Thomas Wightman, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; tariff committee, F.L. Bodine, Philadelphia; T.W. Synnott, New Jersey; J.T. Gorsuch, Ohio; M.M. Watson, Pittsburgh, and Wm. Grange, Philadelphia.

The Eastern Association of Bottle and Vial Manufacturers elected Wm. Brookfield president, and Thos. W. Synnott treasurer and secretary.
