THE BRODIE TREE INSULATOR.
The Brodie tree insulator provides a means for effectually insulating high-tension transmission lines against short circuits and grounds caused by the wires coming in contact with trees—a frequent cause of annoyance in high-tension work. This specialty is handled by the Brodie Electric Co., of Manchester, N. H., and is made in various forms, with single or double petticoat insulation, and with either drive lag-screw or cleat support. This type of insulator in the form here illustrated was used on all the transmission lines of the Manchester (N. H.) Traction, Light & Power Co., whose property is described elsewhere in this issue, and it is staled that the lines thus protected have never been out of service through tree-grounds. The Brodie Electric Co. also makes a specialty of a porcelain single-pole primary switch and cut-out, intended especially for use with transformers.
