School Board Meeting.

 

The Treasurer's report showed a balance of $4,016.86 on hand.

U. Shinkle was awarded the contract for furnishing coal for the schools.

It was decided not to increase the salaries of teachers or janitors.

The Superintendent's report shows an enrollment of 3,139, with an average attendance of 77 to every hundred.

Messr. Ralph Hemingray and J. H. Wilkerson, new members, were sworn in.

All of this year's teachers were re-elected for next year.

An attempt was made by Mr. Bostwick to restore public graduating exercises, but the motion failed.

Miss Sallie Jones was elected to fill the vacancy of Miss Lizzie Perry, who was married a short time since and resigned.

Mr. L. E. Baker was unanimously re-elected Superintendent.

The resignation of W. C. Niles from the Third Ward was accepted and Mr. Joseph Clark elected to fill the vacancy.

Misses Carrie Winderman, Lillie Hill and Lorena Kennedy were elected High School Substitutes; Miss Carrie Bonney was elected District School Substitute.

The schools were ordered closed for vacation Friday, June 23d.
