Some years ago the Hemingray Glass company removed from Covington, Ky., to Muncie, Ind. Since its removal to the Indiana town the business has grown amazingly, and is now in such a condition that a very substantial enlargement is absolutely necessary. With this idea in view the company proposes to leave Muncie which since the great boom of a few years ago, has become a very commonplace sort of town. The Covington people are making a desperate effort to induce the company to return to that city, but such a move is regarded as highly improbable. The facts of the case are that the company is casting eyes toward Toledo, and, should everything prove to its satisfaction, it may move here. It gives employment to from 500 to 700 people, and would be a valuable acquisition to the manufacturing enterprises of the city.
