AN ELEGANT SOCIAL EVENT

Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Johnson Celebrate

the Twentieth Anniversary of

Their Marriage.

The handsome residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Johnson, corner Washington and Elm streets, was the scene of a most delightful social gathering last evening, nearly one hundred of the prominent society people of Muncie, with a number of guests from other cities, assembling to participate in social festivities and present their congratulations to the host and hostess on the celebration, under such pleasing circumstances, of the anniversary of their wedding day, which happy event took place twenty years ago.

The parlors, library and other rooms were beautifully decorated, the chandeliers, mantles, etc., being draped with smilax, while potted palms and flowering plants were arranged in artistic design. Music, a fitting feature to a scene so charming, was furnished by Panden’s orchestra, of Indianapolis.

It were perhaps needless to say that the ladies present all looked beautiful, many being attired in full party dress, while the gentlemen – of course they all presented a handsome appearance.

After the guests had arrived and some time spent in social intercourse, tables were spread in the parlors, library and dining room and the feasting soon began. One hundred and one guests sat at the tables and were served by colored waiters all in full dress.

The refreshments came in courses and were most elegant. The first course consisted of oyster patties.

The second was chicken coquettes press turkey, ham sandwitches, rolls, pickles.

The third: salmon salad, Long Branch biscuits, lobster salad.

The fourth and last course was choice assorted cake, Neopolitan ice cream, lemon ices, coffee, tea, chocolate. The caterer was Mrs. Kate Boyd, of Urbana, Ohio. The floral decorations were furnished by Mr. George Miller, the popular florist of this city.
