At Westport, Md., just across the Patapsco river, a glass factory is being erected near the water edge of the Middle Branch, and tracks of the Baltimore and Ohio are being laid into the yard of the works. This is said to be the only plant in Maryland that will manufacture and has a patent on Simplex glass, stoppered and metal screw-cap bottles and jars. The company will also manufacture flint glass and amber glassware. The name of the concern is the Baltimore Glass Mfg. Co. The following are the officers: J. A. Oakes, president; Jacob Pease, vice-president; Edward Stabler, Jr., treasurer; I. Irvin Diehl, secretary; I. B. Whitlock, general manager; Chas. J. Jordan, superintendent.
