OBITUARY.

RICHARD THOMAS, president of the R. Thomas & Sons Co., manufacturers of porcelain electric insulating supplies, East Liverpool, O., died April 20. Mr. Thomas was one of the oldest potters in his line in America. He had been all his life connected with the business, and was one of the pioneers in making brown and ebony door knobs in this country. When the electric lighting business began to grow he added the production of vitrified porcelain electric insulating appliances, and his company is now the largest concern in the United States making these goods. Mr. Thomas by his own industrious efforts built up a great and prosperous business, and made all the porcelain electric supplies for the Westinghouse and General Electric Companies. He was a prominent Mason and Grand Army man. Mr. Thomas was in his 68th year, and was born in Staffordshire, England. He came to America when he was eight years old, and has been a resident of East Liverpool for the past 60 years.
