The shade department of the Westinghouse Glass Co., Allegheny, is reported closed down. Last week about thirty-five men employed there wanted recognition as union men, and affiliated with the American Flint Glass Workers. The question of wages arose, and it is claimed that it was found that the men had drawn an average of $16.27 w week since the factory started, and the union men employed at other factories at the same work only received an average of $8.12 a week in 1894 and 1895. When the men wanted to return to work the shop was closed down.
