SMALL STRIKE AT HEMINGRAY'S. Boys Demand Higher Wages, and Being Refused, Quit Work. There is a small strike at Hemingray's glass works in Industry and only two shops of the plant are in operation. This morning between twenty-five and thirty boys quit work. They made a demand for higher wages, and being refused, quit. The company claim that the youthful strikers were trying to induce the other boys who remained at work to strike and telephoned for the police. Officer Ball went to the factory and succeeded in inducing the young strikers to stay away from the factory. The company has a heavy business on hand, but anticipates no trouble in getting others to perform the work. |
