TOLEDO - Owens-Illinois Glass Co. has contracted for the purchase of the assets and business of Hemingray Glass Co. of Muncie, Ind., manufacturers of glass insulators, and of substantially all the assets of the O'Neill Machine Co. of Toledo, Ohio, manufacturers of glass bottle blowing machines of the vacuum type.

Hemingray Glass Co. business will become a part of the Industrial Materials Division of Owens-Illinois Glass Co.

Acquisition of the O'Neill company settles patent litigation between Owens-Illinois and O'Neill, and is likely to spur developments in automatic bottle blowing machines.

Owens-Illinois will soon start making beer bottle cases in its Charleston, W. Va., plant, to meet increasing demand. About 250 workers will be added at Charleston for this work.

During the past few weeks Owens-Illinois has introduced two new products which have met popular favor. One is a milk bottle with the name and emblem of the purchasing dairy imprinted in color. The other is a collection of aquarium jewels of many colors for fish bowls.

A building of glass blocks is being erected by the company at the World's Fair in Chicago to call attention to its new hollow glass blocks developed for the building trade. The structure will be 100 feet long and 60 feet wide surmounted by a 50-foot tower. Glass bricks of every color will be used in the building which will house the Owens-Illinois display at the fair.
