BOYS' STRIKE

IS STILL ON

No Disturbances Tuesday a

Hemingray's Factory.

HOPE FOR A SETTLEMENT

The strike of the boys in the Hemingray glass works rests virtually where it was Monday. The boys with several exceptions refused to go to work and a couple who appeared with dinner pails, were prevailed upon to return home. The strike was orderly, no demonstrations which were calculated to incite riot or disturbance of any kind, being allowed.

Constable Floyd, and an assistant were present to see that nothing was done which would injure the property of the company or any who might report for work. Dan Hemingray arrived from Covington, Ky., Tuesday night and it is possible the boys may be induced to return to work today.

The company asserts that the boys are better paid than in any other city in the west and their demands for an advance will not be compiled [sic] complied with. Many of the boys who were on a strike a couple of years ago are now mechanics drawing wages as gatherers. An effort is being made to secure boys to work, at least enough to break the backbone of the strike.
