BOY RECRUITNG TOUR

BY THE HEMINGRAYS

May Be Made - Strike is Not Settled - News of Interest to

Muncie Working People.

The strike at the Hemingray glass factory is no nearer a settlement than it was several days ago. The boys are still out and state that they will not return to work until the company grants their demands. This the management has announced it will not do. A few shops are at present in operation. Of these, where the boys formerly worked, are men. They are paid at the rate of $1.25 per day. Their work is more satisfactory than that of the boys.

It is stated that the management of the factory will go on a boy recruiting tour and endeavor to bring a large number of boys who are above school age and who desire to learn the glass trade to this city. They would be boarded cheaply and could save some money, it is believed. If the recruiting tour is made it may include two states besides Indiana.

Should the company attempt to make such a move it would meet with much opposition on the part of the strikers. They would make a big effort to prevent other boys from taking their places. The management of the factory would insure the new comers protection, however.
