CAUTIOUS RECEIVER BROOKFIELD. He Obtained an Order of the Court to Pay Out Money. Receiver Brookfield, in whose hands are placed the affairs of Martin Kalbflelsch's Sons, was the petitioner this morning for leave to pay out about $940. It appears that the Kalbflelsch firm is interested in the Bayonne, N.J., Chemical Works. Three other manufacturing firms over there have been accustomed to pay to the chemical company their share of the water tax and that company paid the tax for all four. It was a pooling arrangement on the water question, entered into as a matter of convenience. The companies interested had paid over the money and it was in the hands of the Kalbflelschs When the receiver took charge. Now the Bayonne authorities threaten to cut off the water if the tax is not paid. An order was granted by Judge Bartlett today directing the receiver to return the money to the companies interested or to some person designated by them to receive it. |
