The local chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, observed in a fitting manner the anniversary of the battle of Saratoga in the parlors of the Universalist Church, Thursday evening. The women had attired themselves in beautiful robes, suggestive of colonial times, and the church was beautifully decorated in palms, cut flowers and flags, together with the club colors, blue and white. The Opera House Orchestra furnished appropriate music, and Mrs. J. M. Fowler, of Indianapolis, State Regent, gave an address of much merit. A number of invited guests were present, the qualification being that they should be able to trace their ancestry back to revolutionary soldiers. The roster of the guests of the chapter included Mrs. J. E. Durham, Mrs. J. F. Wildman, Mrs. Thad Neely, Mrs. Mary Spilker, Mrs. Rose Wells, Mrs. Emma Guffigan, Mrs. William Ball, Mrs. Harry Ice, Mrs. Edgar Tyler, Mrs. Hemingray, Mrs. Will Marsh, Mrs. J. A. Heinsohn, Mrs. Arabella Winans, Mrs. Martin Meeks, Mrs. Marion Stewart, Misses Howe and Ludlow, Mrs. Howe and Ludlow, Mrs. John Reed, Mrs. A. Baker, Misses Emma Goodin, Belle Thomas, Klarissa Koons, Reba Koons, Mrs. Webb Richey, Mrs. J. V. H. Koons, Mrs. Charles Turner and Mrs. Ed Ethell.
