BELT LINE TROUBLE

HAS BEEN SETTLED

Agreement Entered Into by

Which All Railroads Entering

Muncie Will Have Equal

Rights on Belt Tracks.

The belt line controversy has been disposed of, and after this month all Muncie railroads will have equal rights to the tracks that touch the south side factories. An agreement has been signed by the managers of the Big Four, the Lake Erie, and Mr. Allen, of the Cincinnati, Richmond & Muncie Railroad, whereby the C. R. & M., on Monday, will connect its line with the Muncie belt near the Hemingray glass factory. The Chicago, Indiana & Eastern will now finish the construction of their track to a point on the south side, where the belt line will be touched, and the Chicago & South-Eastern, or the Midland, will probably tap the main line of the Ft. Wayne road south of the city and get the belt connection. On or before February 1, a belt line superintendent will be appointed, and he will manage all belt line work, using the same rolling stock in the delivery of cars from on point to another. It will be a case of pooling interests for all the roads, and will be a boon for the manufacturers, who will now have access to all the roads, and Ball Brothers, the American Rolling Mill Company, Hemingray Glass Company, Gill Brothers' pot factory, the two Republic iron mills, the Midland steel works, the Midland Steel Company, the Pulp Company, and others will be benefited. Superintendent George Dyer, of the Lake Erie, states that the belt line has not been sold, but that a simple pooling of interests has been made.
