TROTH ANNOUNCED OF NANCY H. SMITH Bennett Graduate Will Be Married Next Month to Bruce Bates, Yale '53 Special to The New York Times
ROCHESTER, N. Y., Sept. 11. — The engagement of Miss Nancy Hemingray Smith to Bruce Banker Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Banker Bates of Port Nelson, Ont., has been announced by Mrs. Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Winslow Smith. The couple plan to be married late next month. Miss Smith is an alumna of Miss Porter's School, Farmington, Conn., and Bennett Junior College, Millbrook. Her father is a partner in the investment house of George D. B. Bonbright & Co., which was headed by her maternal grandfather, the late George Dana Boardman Bonbright. She is a granddaughter also of the late Mrs. Bonbright, Mrs. Charles Winslow Smith and the late Mr. Smith. Her fiancé was graduated cum laude from Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., and in 1953 from Yale, where he belonged to Berzelius. He received a master's degree this year from the Sloan School of Industrial Management of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
