The Latest Concerning Affairs at Many Factories Located Along the Banks of La Belle Riviere — Repairs, Improvements, Additions and Changes at the Different Plants Are Noted by The Glassworker's Hustling Staff Representative. News Items Covering the Situation at Bellaire, Moundsville, Wheeling, Martins Ferry and Shadyside — Affairs at the Chas. Boldt and Hemingray Plants Are Noted.

The Imperial Glass Co., Bellaire, O., got away to a fairly good start on Monday, July 17, with one furnace and two large continuous tanks in operation. On the same date fire was placed in No. 2 furnace, which was let out some time ago for repairs. The fuel system was changed from natural to producer gas and on Monday, July 31. Manager Chas. E. Morris set four pots. He expects to have the furnace in full operation in the near future. It is thought that No. 2 tank will then be let out in order to undergo necessary repairs and also change the fuel system. The entire melting system at this big plant will then have passed from natural to producer gas.

. . . [illegible text] . . . considerable time is being lost by the workers at the Imperial. This company have booked some large orders and a good season run is anticipated.

On Monday, July 24, the Buckeye Tumbler Co., Shadyside, O., made a good start with six punch tumbler shops on the roster. A nice grade of glass is being turned out and quite a number of good orders have been received.

The Rodefer Glass Co.'s plant, Bellaire, is being operated with a full force of blownware shops. At present the press shops are working on two-thirds time at this factory.

The Bellaire Bottle Co.'s plant at Bellaire has been closed down the past week. Tank No. 2 was let out and will undergo needed repairs. Machines are being installed on No. 1 tank and resumption with ten machine shops and side-lever press shops will take place next Monday, Aug. 7.

It is reported that the Fostoria Glass Co.'s big plant, at Moundsville, W. Va., which has been operating in part since the summer stop, went on in full last Thursday. Orders with this well known company are very brisk and a steady period of operation is looked for.

At the H. Northwood Co.'s plant, Wheeling, W. Va., a good start was made after the usual two weeks' summer vacation and all the shops are busy turning out ware in order to keep up with the business that has been booked.

At the Central Glass Co.'s factory, Wheeling, two furnaces are being operated on stemware, punch tumblers, cup foot ware and beer mugs. It is not known when the third furnace will be placed in blast.

The Haskins Glass Co., Martins Ferry, O., whose plant has been operating with the day force since July 17, last week put on the night shift with encouraging prospects for a good run.

In Indiana's Magic City.

At the Chas. Boldt Glass Co.'s. Muncie, Ind., works, eight machine shops on packers' ware and one stopper shop are being employed. It is stated that within a few days another machine will be placed in operation.

It is reported that the Hemingray Glass Co., Muncie, will place two furnaces in operation on insulators about Aug. 14. Another rumor is to the effect that they will embark in the bottle business extensively on machine goods in the near future. This report, however, has not as yet been confirmed by officers of the company.
