BRIEF SKETCH OF POST R.

AND LIST OF MEMBERS.


A glance at the work accomplished by Post R, of this city, shows that its short life has been an eventful one. It was organized April 4, 1896, with twen­ty-six members, the first officers being Joseph F. Crews, president; C. M. Rich, secretary; J. G. Thomas, chairman of the board of trustees.

The worth of Post R. was recognized at the state convention in 1898, when J. G. Thomas was elected president and C. M. Rich state secretary. At the plate convention in 1903 the post won first prize for the greatest gain in membership, including a beautiful silk banner. Today there are 226 members in Post R, just 200 more than when first organized.
