OBITUARY. · · Mr. James M. Brookfield of Brooklyn, N.Y. died on January 16 in Jacksonville, Fla., whither he had gone for the benefit of his health. Mr. Brookfield was 78 years old at the time of his death and though he retired from active business many years ago, he had been for a long time interested in the manufacture of glass, in which he was succeeded by his son William Brookfield, proprietor of the Bushwick Glass Works, Brooklyn. The deceased was at one time connected with the Dorflinger factory at White Mills, Pa., and was the proprietor of the patent glass insulators in such general use on telegraph lines. It is said that probably nine-tenths of the insulators that were used in the United States were made at the Bushwick factory. Mr. Brookfield's death was caused by pneumonia and heart disease. |
