SHINKLE HOME

FROM FLAMES

Fire Was First Noticed by

Servants.

Started in Cupola at Top of

Building.

Fire, of a mysterious origin, this morning’ at 9 o’clock threatened to destroy the Bradford Shinkle home, E. Second-st., Covington. The flames started in a cupola at the top of the house and were noticed by servants.

An alarm was sent in and when the Fire Department arrived, smoke was pouring from windows on the upper floor. Fire Chief Lytle ordered that the chemical be first engine used in order that no damage might be done by water to the interior of the house. The firemen climbed to the top of the house by ladders and within a half hour had extinguished the blaze, which was a hard one to fight.

Servants claim that they have no idea how the fire started, as there was no fire in that section of the house.
