Dr. Louis P. Bolzhauer of the Patterson Bros. company, whose offices in Covington were damaged by fire, Monday night, is bemoaning the loss of 10 pigeons and a pet cat in the fire. The pigeons occupied the cupola. When the flames shot up from the lower part of the building they were overcome by smoke and perished. Dr. Bolzhauer's favorite cat was found dead on the second floor.

Cincinnati and Newport firemen aided in fighting a spectacular blaze that cause $15,000 damage in the four-story warehouse, formerly the Hemingray Glass-Works, at Second street and Madison avenue, Covington, Ky., Monday night. Buildings occupied by the Liberty Cherry and Fruit company and the Reliance Dye works were menaced by the flames. The warehouse was abandoned some time ago, but the Patterson Bros. company, former distillers, conducted an office on the second floor. Fire Chief Griffith said Tuesday he believed the fire was started by tramps who used the old warehouse as sleeping quarters. L. P. Bolzhauer, and employee, said there had not been any whisky in the place for many years.

The fire was discovered by Jacob Hutchins, traffic patrolman, shortly after 10 o'clock. Chief Griffith called upon Cincinnati and Newport for assistance. Marshal Trienan had charge of two Cincinnati companies that went to Covington. The flames shot above the roof of the old warehouse. Crashing interior walls sent firemen hurrying to safety. After an hour's work, the firemen had the flames under control. The offices used by the Patterson Bros. company were damaged by water. The interior of the northern section of the warehouse is in ruins. Some time ago burglars attempted to open a safe in the office and were frightened away.
