Has Purchased the Woodbury Plant.
Wm. Brookfield, proprietor of the Bushwick Glass Works, Brooklyn, N.Y., has purchased the green glass plant at Woodbury, N.J., recently vacated by the American Bottle Co. He intends to start it as soon as possible, but several changes will have to be made. The plant now contains an 8-ring continuous tank of the modes pattern, but Mr. Brookfield will enlarge this to 10-rings and will operate with three shifts of men per day. This will give a capacity equal to 30 shops. Mr. Jacob Pease, manager of the Bushwick Glass Works, is also associated with Mr. Brookfield in the new venture. It is not certain that they will be able to get the plant ready for this season, but it will certainly be in operation at the beginning of next season. The Brooklyn factory will also be operated; this latter has a capacity of 42 shops, and when the Woodbury plant goes into operation, Mr. Brookfield's factories will have a total of 72 shops, making this firm's capacity on of the largest in the east. |
