A FALSEHOOD DENIED.

The Hemingray Glass Company Will

Not Leave Muncie.

A Cincinnati Paper is Trying to Remove

The Plant — The Fires to be Started

In The Factories.

The Cincinnati Enquirer of yesterday contained an article to the effect that the Hemingray Glass company of this city is contemplating the removal of its plant back to Covington, Ky., whence it came. The article alleges that gas is giving out and this is made the reason for the removal. No better denial of the report could be made than by the publication of the following from members of the firm. This morning Mr. Ralph Hemingray received the following letter from his brother, Daniel, who is at Covington;

"I suppose you saw the 'pipe story' in Sunday's Enquirer about our returning to Covington. I know no more about it than you do. Have not seen Mr. Riley since he went with the Enquirer. Chief of Police Pugh told me this morning that Mayor Rhinock knew nothing of it. Can't imagine why Mr. Riley wrote such stuff."

Mr. Hemingray made the following emphatic denial of the story to the Times:

"I saw in yesterday's Enquirer the account of our contemplated removal from Muncie and will say I was as much astonished as anyone when I read the article. The publication in metropolitan journals throughout the country of the failure of the gas, owing to the agitation of the question arising from the enormous waste of gas caused by the drilling of oil wells, has caused numerous inquires as to what the manufacturers would do should gas fail entirely. Doubtless our Covington friends with others have seen these articles, and have the erroneous impression that we are now suffering from a shortage of gas, when the fact is we have an ample supply and hope to have for some years to come. It is of course gratifying to know we are missed from our old home but we have no idea of leaving Muncie.

FACTORIES WILL START.

Late Saturday evening at Pittsburg the window glass wage scale was settled by the flatteners and cutters accepting an increase of fifteen and thirteen per cent respectively, a little below what they demanded. The factories will be running within three weeks. According to an agreement among the manufacturers, none of the plants must resume until three weeks after the settlement. To day eight local blowers and gathers went to Arcadia to work until the Muncie factories resume, when they will return and take their old places. By doing this they will pick up a little money for Christmas.
