About sixty young men and women, friends of the Misses Hemingray and Mr. Robert Walker, were entertained at the latter's home, corner of Washington and Jefferson streets, last evening. The home was decorated becoming the holiday season. It was a card party, pedro being the game of the evening. Interest in the playing was unusually lively. Mrs. H. S. Maddy won the honors of the evening, the favor being a handsomely framed water color, the work of Miss Hemingray. Miss Emma Kingsberry was second in the number of games won. Of the gentlemen, J. Edgar Johnson and Jay Lee Turner carried off first and second honors respectively. After the games refreshments were served. Good bye was said to the old year and the birth of the new was welcomed with many a hearty "Happy New Year." The new year was celebrated by a song from Mr. J. Edgar Johnson and a touching ballad duet by Messrs. Johnson and Turner. The evening was a delightful one and the party given by the Misses Hemingray and Mr. Walker was one of the leading social events of the season.
