Garland Lufkin, plant manager of the Newark Owens-Illinois Glass Company for the past two years, will leave for Toledo on April 15 where he has been assigned to study certain phases of the company's business. Paul Zimmerman, plant manager of the Owens-Illinois plant at Muncie, Ind., has been made general factories manager of the Newark and Muncie plants. B. E. Boyd, local plant superintendent, was assigned as local plant manager.

B. E. Boyd Is Named Owens-Illinois

Plant Manager.


An announcement was made today of the transfer of Garland Lufkin, plant manager for the past two years of the Newark plant of the industrial and structural products division of the Owens-Illinois Glass company, to Toledo where he has been assigned to study the expansion of certain phases of the company's business. Mr. Lufkin expects to leave Newark for his new duties at Toledo about April 15.

Paul Zimmerman, plant manager of the Insulux glass block plant of the Owens-Illinois Glass company, located at Muncie, Ind., will function as general factories manager for the Newark and Muncie plants, it was announced.

B. E. Boyd is being made plant manager of the local factory. Mr. Boyd, former Newark plant superintendent, was graduated from the University of Illinois. He joined the staff of the industrial materials division of the Owens-Illinois plant in Columbus in 1932 where he assisted in the development of products now being made at the local plant.

Among the changes made at the local plant as announced by officials today was the appointment of W. M. Bergin to replace Mr. Boyd as plant superintendent. Mr. Bergin was transferred from the Columbus Owens-Illinois plant to Newark in 1934 as plant engineer and later supervisor of construction.

George Slayer will continue as director of the development and research work in the Newark laboratory.
