Owens-Illinois Plant Closing at Columbus
Owens-Illinois Glass Co. today confirmed the closing of its 350-employee insulux glass block plant in Columbus, O., because of an excessive inventory of finished products. Yesterday the company announced the closing of its 450-employee container plant at Terre Haute, Ind. John Bauer, plant manager, said employees of the Columbus factory's mold shop, warehouse and shipping departments, and some office personnel would be retained and that some production employees would be transferred to other operations. The plant is operated by American Structural Products Co., Owens subsidiary. |
