THE ELKS MEMORIAL

Beautiful Services Were Held at the

Wysor Grand Sunday Afternoon.

Memory of the Departed Ones Occasioned

the Presence of Many Sorrowing

Relatives and Friends - The

Complete Program.

The annual memorial services of the local lodge B.P.O. Elks in Muncie Sunday were as those held in the past, beautiful and impressive. The services were held in the Wysor Grand.

The following Elks have passed to the great beyond: C. D. Beemer, 1896; J. R. Ervin, 1896; G. L. Leson, 1896; E. W. Kirk, 1898; J. A. Grisell, 1900; E. D. Bishop, 1900; R. C. Hemingray, 1901.

The opera house was crowded to its fullest capacity long before the hour had pealed forth that announced the opening number of the afternoon services. The program rendered in memory of the deceased brethren was indeed beautiful. The opera house was beautifully decorated, the stage being banked with palms, ferns, and blooming plants, with many emblems of the B.P.O.E.

As the hour approached for the opening number on the program, the members of the local lodge of Elks slowly marched in and took the seats near the front of the stage. Immediately after they had been seated the following program was rendered:

Overture, Gavin Intermezze . . . . . . . . . . William Furst

The eulogy on the late E. D. Bishop by Mr. Gass and that of the late R. C. Hemingray by Mr. Gregory were eloquent in every respect, both gentlemen dwelling on the life and good works of the deceased brethren. The musical part of the program was excellent while the memorial address by the Rev. Wm. H. Oxtoby of the First Presbyterian church, was beautiful and one of the most impressive delivered at the memorial service held by the Elks in years gone by.
