Major Thomas A. Matthews, an old and highly esteemed citizen of Covington, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at his residence there. Major Matthews was born in Fleming county, Kentucky, May 28, 1819. His rather sudden death is deeply lamented by his host of friends.
