Fire At the Bushwick Plant.

BROOKLYN, April 9. - The factory known as "the lower house" was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon about 5:30 o'clock. The cause of the fire is unknown. They had two plate shops, one battery jar shop and some presses working in the factory. Work was commenced this morning clearing away the debris so that they can get the carpenters at work. Blowing and pressing will be resumed on Thursday.

The Grand street tank was closed for repairs from Friday till today, but the boys are hard at it at the present time.

We have had several new arrivals since my last letter. Wm. Carmelia left Saturday night for Richmond, Va., where he will work the Jerico place. Dan Ambert and Casey Young have gone to Bradford, Pa. Jim Morgan, of St. Louis, is working here. Wm. Anderson, of Spring City, is working with Bros. James Dunn and Harry Birmingham at the Grand street tank. Bro. Kell has been on the sick list, but we are glad to see him at work again. - GOTHAM.
