Large Fire Last Night. - Between seven and eight o'clock last evening the glassware establishment of Messrs. Gray, Hemingray & Co., on the north side of Columbia street, between Main-street and Sycamore street, was discovered to be on fire. The flames were supposed to have originated on the first floor, and in the rear of the building, and were rapidly communicated from story to story until the whole establishment was enveloped in flames. Before the flames could be extinguished almost the entire frame work of the building was consumed, leaving but the walls standing. We found it impossible to ascertain the probable amount of loss sustained, or whether there was any insurance upon the property.

Researcher notes:Best guess is that the fire was started from a heating stove. This event occurred during the midst of a severe cold period.
