Convention of Workingmen.

The Workingmen's party met in convention at Welling's Hall last night. H. H. Martin was chosen Chairman and Alex. Elston elected Secretary.

A committee of five was appointed on rules and regulations, and made the following report:

First — No person but a member shall be a candidate before this convention.

Second — All candidates shall pledge themselves to support the ticket as nominated, and the principles and platform of the Workingmen's party of the United States.

Third — Candidates shall be elected by ballot and it shall take a majority of all votes cast to elect.

Fourth — If there should be no election on the first ballot, the lowest candidate shall be dropped on each ballot until a choice is made.

The following report was submitted and adopted:

"Whereas, The Workingmen's party is a disinct party; and

"Whereas, Certain parties and papers have insinuated that the Workingmen and citizens were combined; therefore

"Resolved, That this convention will not receive the name of any person who has solicited the nomination of any other convention or party.

"Resolved, That each and every candidate, either in person or by friend, shall pledge themselves to support the nominees of this convention.

"Resolved, That all nominees who may be indorsed or nominated by any other party shall submit the same to the Workingmen for their approval or rejection before accepting the same.

The following ticket was adopted:

First Ward — Council, William Ellis; School Trustee, Wm. Jones.

Second Ward — Council, Frank Wood; School Trustee, Ed. Seeley.

Third Ward — Council, none; School Trustee, none.

Fouth Ward — Council, none; School Trustee, Daniel Ashworth.

Fifth Ward — Council, Geo. Welling; School Trustee, F. W. Scharinghausen.

Sixth Ward — Council, none; School Trustee, D. C. Culbertson.

Seventh Ward — Council, Jas. Hester; School Trustee, A. Dwyer.

Eighth Ward — Council, Theo. Welking; School Trustee, none.

Ninth Ward — Council, none; School Trustee, Alex. McLeod.

Wharfmaster — Frank Laudenbac.

Wood Measurer — H. Widdekind.

Market master — Jerry Reed.

Sealer and Gauger — Fred. Steinheim.

Street Commissioner — Thos. Morrissey.

Jailer — Benj. Wilshire.

City Collector — Wm. Hall.

City Engineer — Geo. A. Yates.

City Clerk — A. D. Easton.

City Attorney — No nomination.

City Treasurer — J. D. Shutt.

The meeting then adjourned.
