FATALLY FROZEN.
A Veteran Goes to Bed on a Street Car
Track.
MUNCIE, Ind., Jan. 11. — Saturday morning, at 5 o'clock, with the thermometer at zero, street car employes found Frederick Metzger lying on the track, in the outskirts of the city, nearly frozen to death. He had been a glassblower for the Hemingray factory, formerly of Covington, Ky., for thirty years.
He had first removed his coat and hat, and then laid down on the track while intoxicated. He was removed to the city hospital, and his condition pronounced fatal. For some time past the old man has been in the soldiers' home, at Marion, but a few days since he received his quarterly pension of about $40, and he is out on a furlough. His feet, hands, nose and ears were terribly forzen, and he presents a horrible appearance.
