Ephraim Wormser, one of Western Pennsylvania's pioneer glass manufacturers, died Wednesday afternoon at his residence in Pittsburg, aged 87 years. Mr. Wormser was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1817. Early in the 40's he came to this country and settled first in Philadelphia. He came to Pittsburg in 1845 and embarked in the dry goods business with his brother-in-law, William Frank, under the firm title of Frank & Wormser, with a store in Market street. In 1854 he entered the glass manufacturing business under the same firm name and conducted this enterprise until his retirement a few years ago. Mr. Wormser is survived by two sons. The funeral was held on Friday, the interment being made at Westview Cemetery. |
