BROOKLYN SOCIETY.

Brooklyn society has this season seen few events of greater social importance than the wedding of Miss Matilda Howard Marvin and Dr. Medwin Leale, at St. Bartholomew's, Madison avenue and Forty-fourth street, Thursday afternoon. A distinguished representative of the society of both boroughs gathered to witness this bridal. The service proved particularly impressive and the wedding party that went up the aisle was of decided note.

Five o'clock was the hour, and St. Bartholomew's was finely decorated and brilliantly lighted. A view of the assemblage just before the entrance of the bridal train showed scores of well known man and women. Among them were General Charles F. Roe and Mrs. Roe, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. R. Burnham Moffat, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Seaman, Mr. and Mrs. Augustus D. Quillard, Mr. and Mrs. Edward St. John Haye, Mrs. George Howard Marvin, Mr. and Mrs. Will Baylis, Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Ayer of Boston, Lawrence Daily, Mr. and Mrs. William Brookfield, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Trowbridge, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baldwin, Miss. Baylis, Miss F.E.H. Marvin, Edward Dalley, Mr. and Mrs. Lea Luquer, Mr. and Mrs. John Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baldwin, Miss Buck, the Misses Seaman, Miss Josephine Roe, Judge and Mrs. Edward B. Thomas, Mrs. Lionel Wilber, John Fiske, Miss May Chittenden, Miss Dodge, the Misses Dow, Miss Van Nostrand, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick S. Dennis, Charles H, Marvin, Miss Florence Baylis, Mr. and Mrs. George T. Pratt, Miss Helen Leale, Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Lesle, Mrs. Nathaniel C. Scoville, Miss Scoville, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Tasker Howard, Mrs. Edward J. Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. William Brookfield, Mrs. Arthur B. Kinsolving.

A picture of much charm was presented by the wedding party. Bridesmaids and maid of honor were garbed in gowns of white liberty silk. They wore black Gainsborough hats and carried baskets of American Beauties. These bridesmaids were Miss Marion Leale and Miss Lillian Leale, Dr. Leale's sisters, Miss Evelyn M.A. Dally and Miss Nan Marvin, cousins of the bride, Miss Cornelia Dow of Brooklyn and Miss Annie Martense Wilber of Flatbush. Miss Florence B. Marvin was her sister's maid of honor.

Miss Marvin, the bride, who was the eldest daughter of the late Tasker Howard Marvin of Brooklyn, wore a wedding frock of white satin, with its bodice and sleeves covered with Irish point lace. The flowers she carried were heather, lilies of the valley and white roses. Her veil was of tulle, arranged with orange blossoms and white heather, and it was fastened with a pearl and diamond pin.

The ushers of the occasion were A.B. Baylis, jr., Stowe Phelps, Samuel T. Gifford, J.G. Phelps Stokes, Dr. Regionald Hall Sayer, Frederick Becker, Thomas B. Gilford, jr., and Henry Dally, jr. Loyal Leale, a brother of the groom, served as best man.

Immediately after the ceremony a somewhat small reception was held at the residence of Miss Marvin's uncle, Henry Dally, 9 East Sixty-ninth street. Dr. and Mrs. Leale sailed on the Ema yesterday for a wedding journey of six months.
