The Assembly.

The first assembly of the season was given last night at Odd Fellows Hall, and not withstanding the inclemency of the weather was largely attended by the culture, intelligence, and refinement of the city. Newport and Cincinnati were also represented. The hall was tastefully decorated with feathery ferns, choice flowers, and beautiful evergreens. The dresses of the ladies were especially charming in effect.

John Lehman, the king of caterers, set a supper that would please the most fastidious; and Currier's Band dispensed sweet music throughout the entire evening, and set many feet of the dancers in rapid motion, keeping time to the intoxicating strains.

The patronesses were Mrs. Henry Queen, Mrs. J. R. Minor, Mrs. Daniel Hemingray, and Mrs. Richard G. Evans

Among those present were: Misses Lily Casey, Nora Floyd, Abbie Goodhue, Lottie Taylor, Lucy Blackburn, Anna Warner, Nellie Greer, Mattie Hutchinson, Sallie Artsman, Rennie Orr, Kate Hall, Jennie Bradford, Mattie Vance, Anna Henry, Carrie Smith, Fannie Trimble, Adelle Williamson, Carrie Moore, Gussie Artsman, Jennie Bostsford, of Louisville, Miss Archer, of New York, Miss Collins, Miss Slate, of Pittsburgh, and Miss Scherer.
