FRUIT JAR AND BOTTLES.

Scales on These Articles Are Satisfactorily Adjusted at

Annual Conference.

Conferences to settle the scales on fruit jar and bottles were held last week at Atlantic City. The representatives of the G. B. B. A. had the first hearing. The manufacturers represented were Ball Bros., Muncie, Ind.; Illinois Glass Co., Alton, Ill.; Hemingray Glass Co., Muncie; Fidelity Glass Co., Tarentum, Pa.; Lockport, N. Y., Glass Co.; Whitall Tatum Co., Millville, N. J.; Belle Pre, Alexandria, Va., and the Heinz Co., Sharpsburg, Pa. The workers conceded the "blue mark" rule, which has been the bone of contention for several years, accepting in its stead an increase of 1-2 cents per hundred on jars, which will make the wages on Mason pints, quarts, and half gallons 14, 16, and 20 1/2 cents per hundred respectively.

The representatives of the A. F. G. W. U. then met the manufacturers. The workers' representatives succeeded in retaining the "blue mark" rule. Although the conference was somewhat stormy at times, the contestants parted in a most friendly manner and all seemed well pleased with the result. The white liner conference was held Saturday afternoon, and lasted but two hours, as practically no changes were made except that the summer stop was, upon resolution presented by the workers, extended from six to eight weeks.
