John M. Hummel John "Dutch" Meredith Hummel of lola, Kan , formerly of Doylestown, died Friday at Ark Haven Nursing Home, lola He was 78.

He was the husband of the late Ellen Vaughn Hummel.

Born in LaFontaine, Ind, he was the son of the late Homer and Blanche Miller Hummel.

Mr Hummel was manager of the Lightweight Aggregate Division of Selas Corp of Amenca, Dresher, where he worked from 1966 until his retirement in 1978. He was a chemical engineer for Owens Corning Fiberglas in Ohio and Kansas and before that for Owens Illinois Glass Co in Muncie, Ind.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr Hummel attended high school in Marion, Ind, and graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind , with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering m 1936.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Buckingham.

He is survived by a son, John R of Acton, Mass, a daughter, Nancy H. Toland of lola, Kan, a brother, Russel M. Hummel of Marion, Ind, and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 am Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church, Buckingham.
