Triple Petticoat Insulator.

The insulator of which the accompanying illustration is a sectional view is built up from three shells of vitrified china fused together with glaze. The pin has a porcelain base, which enormously increases the resistance between the cross-arm and insulator. It would be manifestly inconsistent to increase the insulating qualities of the insulator itself and not make a corresponding improvement in the insulation between the insulator and the supporting cross-arm. This, however, is completely provided for in this insulator by make the pin base of porcelain.
