Researcher notes: | Arsenic oxide is added to the batch materials to ensure that a homogenous glass is produced during founding by eliminating bubbles. Refining is achieved through the action of certain chemicals (refining agents) added to the batch recipe and also by keeping the glass above the liquidus temperature so that the bubbles rise to the surface. We do not know if insulator manufacturers added this to their glass. |
