Otis Lightning Rods.

The only Patent which affords absolute Protection against Lightning, is demonstrated by science and experience.

The Otis Rod has been extensively used thro' the Southern & Western States, West Indies and the Canada's, since 1851 and though it has been struck in hundreds of instances, it has never failed to protect.

The great amount of damage done recently by lightning has called attention, as it should, to the protection of buildings by the use of Lightning Conductors. It is all important that the rod used should be one that will give protection, and in roding buildings it should be done by one having experience in the business.

Mr. Reed, former partner of B. P. M. Kimball, now proprietor of the patent for Penobscot Co., has returned to this city to commence business for the coming season. Having had large experience, he assures the public that all his work of this kind will be done in a thorough, neat, and scientific manner.

Samples of this Rod, and certificates of its merits from many of the most prominently scientific men in the country, may be seen at D. M. HOWARD'S Store, on Exchange street, No. 15; and at Dodge's Hotel. . . . [illegible text] . . . at the office of the Penobscot Mutual Fire Insurance Co., Granite Hook, East Market Square, Bangor.   J. D. REED, Proprietor.
