LOW-VOLTAGE GLASS INSULATOR. In the accompanying illustration are shown the cross-sectional dimensions of the glass insulator that has been developed as a result of many years of experience by both the American Telephone & Telegraph Company and the Western Union Telegraph Company. It provides the required surface to minimize leakage and the required strength to withstand mechanical strains. It has been developed by the Brookfield Glass Company, New York, which is said to have sold the first screw-thread glass insulator to the Western Union Telegraph Company in 1865.
