ELLENVILLE AND VICINITY

From Our Ellenville Correspondent.

The house of John Edwards, near Beaver Dam, about seven miles north of Ellenville, was struck by lightning and a daughter of Mr. Edwards, Harry, son of Seymour Edwards, and a grandchild of John Edwards, instantaneously killed. An older son of Mr. J. Edwards received a severe shock which rendered him unconscious for some time. A dog under the table was also killed. The roof of the dwelling was badly shattered and the house flooded with water.

It is reported that Mrs. Bennett and another person from the same locality were also killed.

Marvin Terwilliger, in the employ of the Ellenville Glass Company, who was drawing sand from the railroad depot, had a close call. The horse he was driving was struck by a bolt and thrown to the ground and the wagon overturned. Mr. Terwilliger was badly shaken up.

A telegraph pole in front of John Richards butcher shop on Canal street was struck and shattered.
