EXHIBIT TO OPEN SATURDAY

Varied Entertainment to be Prodded at Formal

Launching of Southland Trade Display

Plans for the formal opening nex Saturday of the Southern California Manufacturers' Exhibit in the Southwest Building, 130 South Broadway, indicate that the whole day and evening will be filled with entertainment. This will consist not alone of artists who will participate from time to time, but will embrace the actual operation of many exhibits themselves. Demonstration of processes and methods of making articles on display, will be going on in a score or more of the booths and the two floors will be a scene of activity.

Among the concerns which were already arranged for this form of activity are Robinson Furniture Manufacturing Company, Van Fleet tycrete floors, Page Wall Bed Company, California Hut, Holsum Bread and hostess cake (Continental Bakery.) East Side, Maxwell House coffee, Los Angeles Desk Company, Superbo Water Heater Company, Samson Tire Company, Master Fan Company, Lord floor heater, Cary health cooker, McLaughlin Glass Company, Swim-easy Knitting Company, McEverlast Paint Company, J.W.P. auto enamel, Ward refrigerators, Mrs. Valentine, paper flowers and others. This will give a fascinating aspect to the whole and will be most informative.

Besides Smith and his Ambassador Band, which will be on hand from 6 o'clock on with Director Otterberry, soloists and ensembles, and the Ethel Lindsay dancers who will entertain afternoon and evening in the patio garden and on the floor, the Kemper Radio will give a program at intervals and radio stars fromt The Times studio will mingle with other artists on the program afternoon and evening.

A novel feature will be the first public appearance of Antonio De Monte, "the singing postman," discovered by The Times as he walked his "beat" singing operatic arias instead of whistling. He now is engaged by several organizations, including the Pilgrimage Play, for future appearances, and he will make his bow to a Los Angeles audience Saturday night at the exhibit, where he will be heard in several operatic numbers. He has a fine tenor voice, highly trained. He is expected to appear in uniform and his fellow-letter carriers are planning to turn out Saturday night and give him a fitting reception.

The hostess of honor — already selected but whose identity will not be disclosed till later, will be enthroned at the second-floor entrance and will be on hand afternoon and evening to greet visitors. She is an international star; that much may be said, and she is delighted with the honor.

The exhibit still is open informally every day and those who wish to see it are heartily invited.
