BUSINESS MEN'S JUBILEE. A Novel Entertainment in Which Many Business Men are Represented. If the people who went to the opera house last night to witness the business men's jubilee, given under the auspices of the W. R. C., were disappointed, it was pleasantly so. Many who went expecting little were highly entertained, and the jubilee was pronounced a decided success in every particular. There were sixty business firms represented last night and each was well presented by a lady in costume appropriate, and many of them very elegant, representing the business, while in well timed verse or song they praised the merits of the business they represented. The entertainment was divided into two parts and at the closing performance of each division the several young ladies taking part went through a series of marches and evolutions that were well executed and proved an interesting feature of the entertainment. Miss Cora McGuire, Joe Burns, T. H. Johnson, and Master Roy Whitney composed a quartet that rendered a fine selection at the opening of the entertainment, and Miss McGuire and Mr. Burns each sang a solo, in which they greatly pleased the audience. The Jubilee will be continued tonight with an entire new program. |
