RECEPTION AND ENTERTAINMENT.

Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Hart Receive, in

Honor of Their Guest, Mrs.

John Randolph.

The parlors of the Kirby House presented a brilliant appearance last night, the occasion being the reception given by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Hart to their friends in honor of Mrs. John Randolph, a sister of Mrs. hart, a resident of Denver, Col. At 8 o'clock, as the guests began to arrive, they were greeted when entering the brilliantly lighted and profusely decorated hall with the sweet strains of music rendered by the Apollo Orchestra. The guests were received in the main parlor where a cordial greeting was given by the host and hostess and each was presented to the honored guest of the evening. A pleasant meeting and greeting of friends occupied the time very pleasantly for two hours, when, to the inspiring strains of the music, the grand march was taken up to the dining room. There again the taste and elegance of the decorator's art was shown. Beautiful decorated the tables, chandeliers, and windows being profuse with pot plants, evergreens, and trailing vines. Elegant refreshments were served in courses while hum of pleasant conversation was heard in the spacious dining room from the one hundred and eighteen guests. A feature of the evening was the offering of toasts and responses thereto. Mayor Brady, as master of ceremonies, called upon the following persons to respond:

Mr. Geo. F. McCulloch — "The City of Muncie."

Maj. Wildman — "The Press."

Capt. J. W. Hilligoss — "The Honored Guest."
