The Hoosier team Lose their First

Game at Columbus yesterday.

The admirers of the National sport in this city will have to content themselves by going to Indianapolis the present season to see games. The capital city is represented in the western Association, which is made up of the following cities: Toledo, Columbus, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Kansas City, and Omaha. The Association in operated under the millennium plan. John Brush, the well-known magnet and present owner of the Cincinnati League team, is in charge of the Indianapolis team, which alone insures the success of the Hoosiers and it is a strong aggregation of young talent besides. Yesterday the Indianapolis boys played their first exhibition game at Columbus, O., and they were defeated 17 to 4 but the team made a favorable impression as they have had little or no practice, while the Ohio team has been in several fine games this season. After to-days game at Columbus the Indianapolis players will return home and to-morrow afternoon will open the exhibition season in a game with the Cincinnati League team. Judge C. E. Shipley, Ralph Hemingray, Frank Miller, Frank Beemer, Will Kirk, Leslie Wachtell, George Davis, and several other Muncie people will witness the game.
