Labor Day — Program.
The Muncie Trades Council met last evening and completed a program for Labor Day. The officers of the day, and grand marshal C. E. Keelor, the persons and lodges participating in the parade and the line of march are as follows: C. E. Keelor, Grand Marshal. Sam'l Springer, Assistant Grand Marshal. FIRST DIVISION. James Conlin, Marshal. Advance Guard of Bicycle Riders. Muncie Fire Department. Grand Marshal of the Day. City Police. Special Police. Mayor, City Council, and Speakers of the day in carriages. Band. Retail Clerks' Union. Typographical Union. Bakers' Union. Cigar Makers' Union. Taylors' Union. Plumbers', Steam and Gas Fitters' Union; Wood Workers', Machinists', Iron Moulders., Unions. Visiting Unions. This division forms on Jackson street, right on High. SECOND DIVISION. C. E. Vantress, Marshall. Forms on Adams street, right on High street. Drum Corps. Carpenters and Joiners' Union. Plasterers' Union. Painters & Decorators' Union. Bricklayers & Stonemasons' Union. Building Laborers' Union. THIRD DIVISION. George Carpenter, Marshal Forms on Charles street, right on High. Band. A.A. of I. & S. W. Hoosier Lodge. Roubado Lodge. Muncie Lodge. Midland Lodge. White River Lodge. Drum Corps. Flint Glass Workers No. 23. Flint Glass Workers No. 91. Green Glass Workers. Pressers' League U. S. Window Glass Workers. FOURTH DIVISION. Wm. Richey, Marshal. Forms on Howard street, right on High Street. Drum Corps. Teamsters' Union. Business Men's Display. Citizens on foot and in carriages. Divisions will form at 9:45 a.m. Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. From Jackson street the column moves south on High to Dumont, east on Dumont to Walnut, north on Walnut to Jackson, east on Jackson to Elm, north on Elm to Main, west on Main to High, north on High to fair grounds. At the fair grounds the following is the order of exercises: Cornelius Hanley, Master of Ceremonies. Music. Address of Welcome — Mayor Brady. Address — Jos. Leffier. DINNER. Ample preparations have been made for serving dinner on the ground. 1:30 — Addresses — R. S. Gregory and Judge Lots. 2:30 — 2 mile bicycle race. 1st prize — $40 medal. 2nd prize — Bicycle suit. 3rd prize — Sweater. Other prize bicycle races. 220 yard foot race — Purse, $10. Sack race — 1st $5, 2nd $2.50. Wheelbarrow race — 1st $5, 2nd $2.50. Base ball. 4:00 Chief Shepp will give exhibition fire department drill, old style and new. Horse race. A grand display of fire works donated by the business men of Muncie in the evening, at 8 p.m. on the Wysor grounds east of Madison and north of Gilbert street; managed by Harry Richey. It is desired by the Trades Council that all committees serving for Labor Day meet at Trades Council hall on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Special police will be sworn in for Labor Day this (Friday) evening at 7:30 and all persons appointed to serve are requested to present themselves at Trades Council hall at that time. |
