As mentioned in these columns several weeks ago, the plant of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Co., Sandwich, Mass., has been sold. Geo. B. Jones, of Boston, has bought it, and it will shortly be put into operation on a general run of flint glassware. The firm will be known as Abraham [sic] Abram, French & Co. The capital will be $80,000. Of this Mr. Jones holds $75,000, and the remaining $5,000 is held by citizens of Sandwich
The plant is one of the oldest in the country. Its history has been rehearsed on several occassions in this paper. How it suspended operations in the general lockout which occurred in the flint glass trade in 1888, and never resumed. But now the prospects are that it will run with renewed vigor.
The glass blowers of that section have watched the steady decline of the industry there, and they have in the past few years endured many months of idleness. The starting of this plant will give the old town of Sandwich a boom and bring satisfaction to the workers likewise. Everything indicates that ist future course will be successful.
