THE COMING CARNIVAL.

The Line of Parade for the Big Monday

Demonstration.

THE PARADE PARTICIPANTS

The Shows With Their Attractions Are

Beginning to Arrive — All Will be in by

To-morrow Evening.

All day long the attractions for the greatest carnival ever held in Indiana have been arriving. The booths have been decorated in gay colors and signs of the festal week approaching are everywhere. Monday morning will see one of the largest crowds in Muncie that has ever assembled here. There will be things worth seeing at the carnival, and they may be seen for a smaller price than they ever were seen before. Any on of the Midway attractions would cost more than the present price, were they here at any time other than carnival week.

Ample police protection is to be given during the week of crowds. Thirty extra police will be on duty should the occasion require. The governor at first only agreed to place 15 new men on duty but at length was prevailed upon to see the necessity of a greater number. There will be crooks here, and the police warn the public to be on the constant lookout. Officers of the law cannot be everywhere at once. A policeman might be within a square of a robbed house without being able to know that the house was being robbed, if his attention were called elsewhere.

The parade will be an extensive one   The following is the order issued by the grand marshal, John L. Gottschalk. All reports should be made to Marshal Gottschalk or his aides who are mentioned in the report below.

Notes of Carnival.

The following men were named to be special policemen, by the commissioners at special meeting held yesterday afternoon: James Tahey, George Fulkerson, Lemuel McKinney, William Pash, William Kyle, George Carpenter, Edward Conroy, William Willard, W. W. Stokes, Thomas Pacey, Carl Vickery, Grant Saunders, Frank K. Davis, James Heath, and P. M. Markley.

The Exposition Circuit Company with an aggregation of 125 people came in early this morning from New York City. There is every kind of oriental people imaginable in the crowd. Bears and other animals are along. A little later there came still another show company with 50 people from New Orleans. In this way they have been coming all day long. By night the Midway will be like the Chicago Midway during the World's Fair. All kinds of strange people are in the city already. Japanese jugglers, strong men, dwarfs, in fact all kinds that go to make up a first class circus attraction are here. More will arrive to-morrow.

The entire executive committee as well as a number of other Elks have buckled down to the work and are looking after affairs. Every train brings in a party of strangers many of whom must be cared for. In addition those who have booths require constant attention from the vigilant Elks. The task of taking care of everything is a gigantic one, but triumph is about to crown the long efforts of those to whose charge the affair have been given.

The Elks wives this morning received their admission badges to the club rooms Monday and Tuesday. No ladies will be admitted without a badge.
