The Thomas China Co. will begin operations in about three weeks. They hope to surpass anything hitherto attempted in this country in the line of semi-porcelain. Manager Keates recently returned from the East accompanied by F. B. Wright, the well-known modeler from Mintons, England, whom he has engaged. A specialty will be made of underglaze decorations, the colors being applied to the ware while in the clay state, or before it has been burned at all. They will also place upon the market "Rex Ware," a line of table goods with a very rich treatment. Colin W. Evans, the well-known decorator of Trenton, will have charge of the decorating department, assisted by Albert A. Shaw, a flower painter of merit from Staffordshire, England. The concern is capitalized at $100,000, and the directors consist of Geo. W. Thomas, president; J. W. Boch, vice-president; A. C. Mason, secretary and treasurer; Wm. F. Keates, manager.
